Accessibility Statement

Digital Accessibility

Turm Hotel Schwedt is committed to making its website accessible to all people – regardless of individual impairments or technical conditions. Our goal is to make digital communication as barrier-free as possible and to facilitate access to our information and services. We follow established standards of digital accessibility.

Standards and Legal Foundations

Our accessibility strategy is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, levels A and AA, and the German Regulation on Accessible Information Technology (BITV 2.0). These international guidelines define how content must be designed to ensure it can be used without difficulty by as many people as possible – including those with motor, sensory, or cognitive impairments.

Legal foundations include:

  • Brandenburg Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Act (BbgBGG)
  • Brandenburg Regulation on Accessible Information Technology (BbgBITV)
  • German Regulation on Accessible Information Technology (BITV 2.0)
  • EU Directive 2016/2102
  • European Standard EN 301 549 (Version 3.2.1)

Accessibility Audit Results

An automated review of nine content pages (Home, Rooms and Suites, Meetings, Events, Dining, Leisure, Contact, Imprint, and Privacy Policy) using the axe DevTools tool revealed that our website is currently not fully accessible.

An average accessibility score of 46% was recorded. A total of 483 issues were identified, 53 of which were classified as critical and 430 as serious.

Common issues include:

  • 422 problems with insufficient color contrast
  • 21 form elements without visible labels
  • 31 select fields without accessible names
  • 8 links or buttons without perceivable text
  • Partially missing or incorrect ARIA roles and labels
  • No alternative descriptions for controls

The booking and payment system, as well as the English version of the website, have not yet been evaluated separately, but likely present similar barriers.

Features Already Implemented

  • Structured content (paragraphs, semantic HTML tags)
  • Most links are clearly labeled
  • Navigation is logically and accessibly designed
  • Texts are accessible to screen readers
  • The website is available in German and English

Remaining Barriers

  • Some color contrasts do not meet the required standards
  • Missing alt texts and ARIA labels
  • Form inputs lack proper labels
  • Buttons and links without visible text
  • No content available in plain language or sign language

How We Are Reducing Barriers

  • Improving accessibility is an ongoing process. The following measures are planned:
  • Adding missing alternative texts and labels
  • Enhancing keyboard accessibility
  • Optimizing color contrasts
  • Structuring heading hierarchy
  • Revising the booking system with accessibility in mind
  • Providing additional content in plain language and sign language
